Tooth Extractions

When Saving the Tooth Isn’t the Right Option

At Smile, Co., our goal is always to preserve your natural teeth whenever possible. But sometimes, removing a tooth is the healthiest choice—especially if it’s severely decayed, damaged, or causing pain.

We make the extraction process as comfortable, clear, and supportive as possible, using modern techniques, calming sedation options, and a warm, friendly team who puts your needs first.

Why a Tooth Might Need to Be Extracted

Tooth extractions are often recommended when:

  • A tooth is too decayed or infected to restore
  • A crack or break extends below the gumline
  • There is advanced bone loss or periodontal disease
  • Baby teeth haven’t fallen out in time
  • Overcrowding is impacting your bite or alignment
  • You’re preparing for implants or orthodontics
  • A tooth is impacted or causing jaw discomfort

We always take a conservative, informed approach—explaining your options and only recommending extraction when there’s no viable alternative.

What to Expect from a Tooth Extraction

  1. Consultation + Imaging
We’ll take digital X-rays and review the health of the tooth and surrounding bone to determine if extraction is needed.
  2. Comfort-First Procedure
Extractions are done using local anesthesia and, if needed, sedation for a pain-free, low-stress experience.
  3. Post-Op Care & Recovery
We provide clear instructions for healing, including how to manage discomfort, prevent dry socket, and care for the extraction site.

Most patients resume light activities within 24–48 hours. We’ll check in to make sure everything’s healing as expected.

Surgical & Simple Extractions

We perform both:

  • Simple extractions for teeth that are fully erupted and visible
  • Surgical extractions for teeth that are broken at the gumline, impacted, or partially erupted (including wisdom teeth)

For complex cases involving infection or jaw anatomy, we may recommend a follow-up procedure such as bone grafting to preserve the area for future dental implants.

What Comes After an Extraction?

We’re not just focused on removing a tooth—we’re focused on what comes next. During your visit, we’ll talk through restorative options to protect your smile and restore function:

  • Dental implants
  • Bridges
  • Partial dentures
  • Bone preservation at the time of extraction

We want every patient to leave with a clear plan for a full, healthy smile—whether that means immediate next steps or giving the area time to heal.

Emergency Tooth Removal Available

Tooth pain that comes on suddenly may require urgent care. If you’re experiencing severe pain, swelling, or signs of infection, our emergency dentistry team can often perform same-day extractions.
